I think we finally have answers?

So we went to Spokane yesterday to take Gabe up for a appointment with a pediatric ENT to discuss his drooling. He had us explain all that was going on, and for how long. He talked to Gabe one on one a bit (it was so cute to hear him talk to the doctor) The doctor then put a scope down Gabe's nose and into the throat, he explained what he was looking for...He said that he was pretty sure that he thought it would be that he has GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease) and that when he put the scope down, he would be looking at his vocal cords and throat. He let us look too and what we saw was red raw vocal cords! He said that that means he does have it. He gets heartburn pretty much and makes his throat hurt and then that makes him not want to swallow. I feel somewhat bad because that means that he has been living with a sore throat for 4 years!! We got a lot of info so we can help him (not eating after 5:30, not eating certain foods, raised mattress) We are trying him on Prevacid for a month also. The doctor said that the medicine will only help so much and the rest of the drooling is probably just laziness from just doing it for long and not knowing anything else.
It is so nice to possibly be getting some answers. I guess I have a hard time believing that it is GERD (even though all the symptoms are totally Gabe) because the doctors have all thought it was so many other things (low muscle tone, tortacollis, tongue tied, adenoids) I just don't want to get my hopes up that this is what it is and then come to find out in another year that it is something else.
So that is what we did yesterday :)
Nolan is getting a cold and I am still making myself nervous for Sunday. I also have to figure out how I am going to coach T-Ball practice tomorrow for 13 4 year olds. Jessica is gone, but we needed one more practice before their first game on Tuesday. It will either be a lot of fun and the kids will have a blast..........or they will all run like baby kittens and scatter and I wont be able to keep them in one place!
Something exciting: Heather posted some pictures of our cakes on a website called Cake Central, and today our Couch cake is in the "Popular cakes today" area, when I last checked 18 people had said that they loved it and 8 people commented about how great it was :)

Here is a new recipe that I found from Allrecipes the other night. I loved it, it was so yummy and next time I will actually put more of the Dijon sauce on them before cooking.

Baked Dijon Salmon

1/4 cup butter, melted
3 tablespoons Dijon mustard
1 1/2 tablespoons honey
1/4 cup dry bread crumbs
1/4 cup finely chopped pecans
4 teaspoons chopped fresh parsley
4 (4 ounce) fillets salmon
salt and pepper to taste
1 lemon, for garnish

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. In a small bowl, stir together butter, mustard, and honey. Set aside. In another bowl, mix together bread crumbs, pecans, and parsley.
Brush each salmon fillet lightly with honey mustard mixture, and sprinkle the tops of the fillets with the bread crumb mixture.
Bake salmon 12 to 15 minutes in the preheated oven, or until it flakes easily with a fork. Season with salt and pepper, and garnish with a wedge of lemon.

We served it with asparagus and thinly sliced seasoned red potatoes. I loooooved it!

I'm glad you got to the bottom of Gabe's drooling.

You are going to do great on Sunday. I can understand why you'd be nervous though. I'd feel the same way.

Can't wait to try the recipe. It looks like something we'd like around here.

Hey there! I totally understand your dilemma with the posting thing. I too, am always questioning Amy, is that stupid to blog about? And then Lisa will tell me, jeez that post is so long. But in the end I try to decide, is this something I would journal about? Do I want to remember this someday, and just go from there. Like my cousin said, if they don't like it they don't have to read it! Your cakes are amazing! I took a few classes once, and loved it, but my cakes sure don't look like yours!

Also, I'm glad you got some answers on your son. I hope it all works out okay.
