wedding cake

Heather and I got to do our 3rd wedding cake today!! We were so excited to try something new but at the same time it was also very trying. Lets just say that we learned some very valuable lessons with this cake that I think we can only grow from...problems with the dowels and this was our first square wedding cake.
All in all I feel it turned out pretty darn good! I just hope it holds up well and that the cake tastes yummy....(it always does anyways...cake is cake!!)

Don't you just love the color?! the theme was lemon and limes.

I love this picture...this always happens...right after we feel good about the cake we both pull out our cameras and start taking picture after picture until we both have about 50 each on both our cameras. I also love this picture cause Heather looks so darn cute with her pregnancy belly :)
Heather, thanks for being a great friend and going on this adventure in cakes with me!

Looks great! I'm curious - is it easier to work with fondant on a square cake or a round cake? I always have trouble with the bottom edge when I wind up with a bunch of excess and it tries to go bunchy on me.

Heidi, it wasn't "too" bad. it was tricky though. We had the bunching too, very annoying! Luckily that was covered up with the scalloped edging...yay for edging! :)

The cake is so gorgeous. How fun. Love the colors.

Okay sweet Kate. I was completely overcome with your thoughtfulness yesterday. I was caught napping (ha ha), but then awoke to the nicest thing ever. I was just disappointed that I didn't get to see you and give you a big ole hug. I just appreciate you so much for thinking of me. I had my parents over yesterday afternoon to watch the news and they were going crazy for the cookies. And then my husband brought a couple of his friends over yesterday afternoon too, and they were going crazy for the cookies. I promise I ate a couple too. And today, I plan on more. They are DELISH. I love them. The plate is my favorite color, and brown is my second. So I was also visually fed. It meant alot to me. I really thank you so much. Have a great weekend, and make sure you have some fun.
